Technician Firmware Update 085
Download Here
If your unit says "TECHNICIAN 00.86" or above in the drop down for MIDI device you do not need to update.
This is a BETA version of the firmware update tool and will delete your firmware during the update process to replace with new firmware. If your update fails then unplug and restart the process but increase the delay time up from the default 5ms. If you are unable to get a successful update please contact us for further help!
To complete a firmware update on your Technician perform the following
With the pedal unpowered, hold the "Control page" button while powering it up.
The control page button should stay green.
Connect the usb cable directly to the computer
(please close all programs and have this be the only tab open just to minimize possible conflicts)
and choose "technician" for the firmware update.
Make sure the technician is chosen in the drop down for "Choose MIDI Device:"
Click "load file" and choose the attached file.
Then choose "Send" and the pedal should start blue and then start turning green for progress.
the pedal should go through the update and then restart by itself into normal operation and should be usable from there! If your pedal hangs up on green then unplug power and restart the process but increase the delay time in the tool.
New Features
- MIDI control over the looper engine. The following commands have been added to the MIDI Map. Manuals have been updated. “Looper Mode” toggle can be left in “Off” mode allowing you to continue using the tap delay control and the looper at the same time. Rec/Dub, Pause/Play, Erase
- Added a preset clear function - If you have made a lot of tweaks and are just trying to get back to a blank preset without having to reset the whole pedal now you can reset the current preset you are on!
- Simply hold “Control” and “Tap Division” toggle to clear the current preset.
Addressed issues
Looper
- Looper would get stuck on a single sample value sometimes when changing modes that would cause an unpleasant noise.
Filter
- Reduced minimum “Resonance” for filter engine. Can be much more passive now for more natural reverbs and delays.
Delay
- Feedback Dampening: Adjusted so the first repeat receives dampening not just the repeats after the first.
- Granular: Reduced max grains to 3 as it can cause a conflict with some of the more intense reverbs. I’ll work to optimize the code to bring the max grains back up to 5 later.
- Minimum delay time was wrapping around to max delay time when you would turn the knob all the way down.
- Minimum delay time with vibrato would wrap to max delay time due to math error.
Other
- Digital headroom - Fixed an issue that would cause very unpleasant clipping with a hot input.
- Expression was not recognizing “synced” and “unsynced” state when setting expression values.
- Expression wasn’t activating for “Right” side correctly.
- Mono - Stereo & Stereo - Mono: made so it can only be used in tails mode, not designed for use with true bypass and this was causing confusion. Removed ability to change bypass mode if either of these options are selected.
- Fixed issue where when in tails mode the pedal wouldn’t boot up to the correct state.
Features coming
- External 3 switch control over looper engine or bank/preset control
- Stereo phase change option
- Online Preset/settings editor
- Weekly Presets you can upload to your pedal.
- Expanded options for the filter to switch between different kinds of filters.
